Tone Sorli

Tone Tuhus Sørli (40) grew up in a small town in the eastern part of Norway, together with her brother and two sisters. Now she lives in Oslo, where she workes as a journalist and feature editor in a womens magazine. She has been working in the media business for the last ten-fifteen years. Before that she worked at a youth centre for teenagers and with marketing and information tasks at Oslo’s public transportation company.
Some of Tone’s interests is to meet friends, be with her family, listen to music, go to concerts and visit cultural exhibitions. She likes to travel and have allways had a passion for outdoor activities. Some of her favourites is cross country skiing in the wintertime, hiking in the mountains and riding her bicycle in the summer.
- I’m living in a northern country and it’s exciting to see how the nature is changing colors and shapes during the different seasons, Tone says.
One of her most memorable experiences was to climb the summit of Kilimanjaro three years ago - this was a really great adventure! For the past year she has studied outdoor living, a part time study at the Norwegian University of Sport and Physical Education, to learn more about outdoor activities.
Tone first heard about Love Hope Strenght Foundation and Peru Rocks through a website about the band The Alarm and lead singer Mike Peters earlier this year. The idea of combining cancer aid with music and outdoor activities had a great appeal on her.
- I actually have been a dedicated fan of The Alarm since the 1980’s when I listened to their first records and heard the band at a consert hall in Oslo. I think the journey to Machu Picchu combines three important things in my life: my passion for music, the joy of beeing outdoors and caring for other people. I personally have friends that have survived cancer, but I also knew people who have died from the illness. I am grateful to be part of a movement that is supporting cancer care and cancer centers around the globe. To fight the battle against cancer is for me of great value and importance - and a major challenge for the future.
I’m really looking forward to the trip and to meet the wonderful group of people that are part of Peru Rocks!
