Michelle Poirier

Michelle is a self-described late-bloomer. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Michelle attended college in Vermont, where she achieved a Bachelor of Architecture from Norwich University. Upon graduation, she left her deep New England roots to move across country for what she expected would be a few years. Since arriving in Colorado nearly twelve years ago, she’s fallen in love with the western landscape and the active lifestyle has been transforming. She now says that her best is yet to come.

After moving to Colorado, Michelle discovered a passion for running. She has completed two marathons, countless half-marathons, adventure races and a fitness model competition, which she admits may have been the toughest event. Fitness is so much a part of her everyday life that she is a group cycling instructor at both Bally’s and 24 Hour Fitness.

Professionally, Michelle admits to loving her day job, but it’s something that she never imagined herself doing. She switched gears early on from architecture to finance. Employed by Charles Schwab, she recently held a high profile position as a presenter traveling to twelve cities and speaking before audiences of two hundred plus people. Because she enjoyed the event so much, she sought out and advanced to her now current role as a corporate trainer within the company. It took some time for her to find her passions in presenting and coaching, but she says that it was worth the while as she now has the opportunity to inspire greatness in others and set them up for success.

Michelle also enjoys an active social life, whether entertaining friends in her own home or out on the town. In 2003, she was featured as one of Denver’s Most Fabulous Singles in Denver’s 5280 Magazine. Her love for art and fashion has connected her with local Denver designers which leads to modeling in fashion shows in her spare time. Michelle also enjoys wine tastings and traveling. Recent travels have brought her to Hong Kong, the Tuscan countryside of Italy and the dynamic city of Barcelona.

As a volunteer, Michelle has worked in soup kitchens, built trails in Jefferson County Open Space, and participated at many charity events. She is a mentor for Denver Kids Inc. and adores spending time with her ‘kid’, Taty. In addition to those efforts, she felt a calling to do something of greatness on a global scale, something seemingly beyond her own reach. Michelle discovered LHSF about a year ago through friends involved in the Everest event. Immediately fascinated by the magnitude of the event, she joined the LHS Army. At the time, it was too late to apply for that event, but she was compelled to become part of this worldly mission. Recently, she began planning a trip, to take place in October, to hike the Inca Trail up to Machu Picchu. Shortly thereafter, she received the timely invitation to apply for Peru Rocks. Clearly, Peru Rocks is the answer to this calling and she believes that the timing is no coincidence. Michelle knows that she has been blessed with good health and wants to use it to help those less fortunate.
