Welcome and thank you for stopping by my profile! Are you interested in not just fighting cancer, but actually beating it? Well if you are, you have come to the right place. Below you can read a bit about me, why I am choosing this course of action and how you can help! My trek is dedicated to not only my father and mother, who both battled cancer, but to all of those who have ever known someone with cancer and yes that could be you in the future – so really we are trekking for everyone!

I am forty-four year old mother of two children (seven and ten, respectively) who is a fourth generation Coloradoan who lives in Parker, Colorado. That is Aaron hiking with me last summer in the picture and Shannon; my daughter is taking the picture. I have always been very involved in environmental issues and non-profits for various issues, both as a volunteer or organizer; and in recent years, my attention has turned passionately to engraining in my children the importance of putting others first and to further the wondrous condition of the human spirit through acceptance and love. This trek is a way to honor those who have fought cancer close to me and to those who have been caregivers in the darkest hours of this journey. My father fought both cancer and Parkinson’s and lost the fight, but he never lost hope in a new day and my mother also fought and won the cancer battle and has taught me that life must be fully lived with hope and a lot of laughter. By trekking to Peru, my journey begins at home and will spread through those who will support me on this journey. I wish through my actions to help bring the sword of hope to the cancer battle so as to save lives and keep families together.

All of your donation will go directly to build the Center, with me figuring out how to get myself down there and paying for my own trek! Last year, LHSF trekked to Everest to raise money which benefited the Nepal Cancer Relief Society (NCRS). See the YouTube video from the concert that was held at the base of Everest which was at the end of the trek.

If you wish to read more about this journey and how I and others are preparing for this incredible opportunity to help fight cancer, stop by my blog at www.climb2fightcancer.com and join me weekly on my virtual trek from now until my physical trek, which is planned for October 8 -17, 2008. Once in Peru, I will be joined by 100 other trekkers from around the world who together will trek the Inca Trail; all to raise funds to purchase much needed cancer screening and treatment equipment for ALINEN. You can read about this group and their incredible mission on this website.

Check back soon, read a bit more about my preparation for the journey and most important, become involved and don’t forget that you are the key to helping save lives around the world. Oh, one more thing, I would love it if you left a note for me on this site to let me know that we were able to reach out and touch your heart!
