Kelly Coyle

Hi! I’m Kelly Coyle. I’m 25 years old and was born and raised in Scranton Pennsylvania. I grew up pretty normally, I played a lot of sports and took a lot of dance classes; the usual for a suburban kid. I had my first brush with cancer when I was little and my maternal grandmother was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer that encompassed her mouth, throat and lymph nodes.
My mom, older brother and I moved in with my maternal grandparents after my parents had separated. My brother and I had to help take care of my grandma when she returned home after treatments but after a short battle with surgery and radiation she passed away in November of 1990.
In the meantime, I grew up, finished school, my parents got remarried (hooray) and I was off to college where I was on weekly crusades for the betterment of society. I moved to New Jersey shortly after receiving my bachelor’s in Journalism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, IUP, and have had a few different positions in communications and graphics and now work in the Graphics Department for the County of Union, NJ.
I met and got involved with LHS last year during Empire Rocks! In NYC and jumped at the chance to help shout the message from the mountain top in Peru. I’ve always been interested in traveling abroad and couldn’t think of a better way not only to see the world but to carry such a positive message globally.
