In 2008, I became acutely aware of the prevalence of cancer. I lost two best friends after they valiantly battled the disease. As I mourned the passing of my dear friends and reached out to learn about the disease that had claimed their lives, I began to understand how many lives have been altered because of cancer, and how many survivors, friends, families, and compassionate supporters there are working together to raise money and awareness to continue the battle.
I am currently the Director of Strategic Alliances and Partnerships under Nokia’s Corporate Development Office in New York. Additionally, I sit as Chairman of the Board of Directors, of Earseph Enterprises, acting as creative and strategic advisor on matters of managing recording artists. My position at Earseph is the culmination of a life-long passion for music, which I’ve explored through extensive travel. Throughout my career I have served in various volunteer positions for arts and cultural foundations, including Alwan for the Arts in New York, as well as annual international music festivals.
I shared my passion for travel and culture with my much-loved friend, Otto Schutt, who passed in May 2008, eight months after being diagnosed with colon cancer. Among our many travels and adventures were hikes all over the globe from Mount Kilimanjaro, the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe, the Sand Dunes of Namibia, to Mount Tam in California.
In July 2008 my dearly loved friend, Sharon Held, passed away six months after being diagnosed with leukemia. Sharon was also an adventurous spirit who brought joy to every occasion. In honor of Otto and Sharon, I’m participating in Peru Rocks in order to deepen and further my commitment to battling the effects of cancer.
I am deeply grateful to all those who supported my dear friends, Otto and Sharon. Please join me in honoring them by supporting my participation in Peru Rocks.
