Trek Details
October 8th - 17th 2008
We invite you along on a monumental journey with approximately 100 cancer survivors, musicians, mountaineers and supporters to, once again, celebrate our “Climb Back From Cancer(TM)”.
This event will bring Love Hope and Strength to the people of Peru and to the world. Machu Picchu is probably the most famous archaeological site in all of the Americas. It is certainly one of the most amazing places anywhere on earth and was recently voted one of the ‘Seven New Wonders of the World’. The Love Hope Strength Foundation has selected Peru as a destination because of its natural beauty and wonderment.
Our trip starts and finishes in the Peruvian capital, Lima. The challenging 4-day trek from Mollepata follows an ancient and remote Inca footpath through the high mountains of the Cordillera Vilcanota to the lost Inca city of Llactapata from where there are the first views of the amazing condor-like shape of the Machu Picchu citadel. You will visit the Inca cities of Llactapata and Machu Picchu and the city of Cusco, situated at 11,150 feet, in the foothills of the Andes. Cusco was the capital of the Inca Civilization and is now a World Heritage Site.
